Best of 2015 | Endings

Hey guys! Welcome to my top ten countdown for the entire year of 2015! Since it is the first full year of anime I have watched, it was only right to compile all of my favorites for the year into a collection of blogs!

This blog consists of my favorite endings out of all the anime I have watched this year. Keep in mind that these are all my opinion and the list does not include anime that I have not seen. Enjoy!

The other “Best of 2015” blogs are: Best of 2015 Openings and Best of 2015 Male Characters.

10 | Ace of the Diamond Second Season

Song: “KIMERO!!” by OxT

Season: Winter

Thoughts: This song is really jumpy, which many may dislike, but I happen to enjoy. It is a little odd of a choice I admit, and I actually though it was an opening at one point (I don’t know why), but it just gets your blood pumping.

9 | Haikyuu!! Second Season

Song:Climber” by Galileo Galilei

Season: Fall –

Thoughts: This is just a nice song, and I really like the vocals here. It fits the whole Haikyuu feel and goes well with the opening. This is one opening that a would listen to any day of the week. It has a bit of a homey feel to me, maybe from the slight softness in the vocals.

8 | Ace of the Diamond Second Season

Song:BLOOM OF YOUTH” by Tom-H@ck featuring Masayoshi Oishi

Season: Spring –

Thoughts: A rather recent ending for the series, this is one that I really enjoy among the many Ace of the Diamond soundtracks. At first I found it a tad bit annoying, but after a while I was singling along. I actually quite like the other songs by this artist (they have done a number of songs for Ace of the Diamond).

7 | Seven Deadly Sins

Song:“7 -seven-“ by FLOW x GRANRODEO

Season: Fall (2014 yikes) – Winter

Thoughts: I would fee bad if I put this up higher since it technically aired in fall of 2014, but this is one of my favorite endings so it must be on the list. This song is a ball of a fun and it easily could have been an opening for the series.

6 | Arslan Senki

Song:Lapis Lazuli” by Eir Aoi

Season: Spring – Summer

Thoughts: Many may like the second ending better, but think this one captures the kingdom feel more. This song is kind of weird because at times it wanes in between super exciting and meh. In the end, this song picks up and pulls through.

5 | Gangsta.

Song: “Yoru no Kuni” by Annabel

Season: Summer

Thoughts: Oh look a somewhat calming ending is here. Even though the song is by no means boring, it still has this kind of feel that warms you up a bit inside. Although it is no where as exciting as the opening, it’s still a very nice song to just listen to.

4 | Asterisk War

Song: “Waiting for the rain” by Maaya Sakamoto

Season: Fall

Thoughts: This song is the pinnacle of calm for me. Yes, I wish the anime was ten times better, but this song makes up for it a bit. The best calming songs relax you without putting you to sleep, this is a good one. Even when the song picks up a bit, the song still retains the calm, romantic feel.

3 | Tokyo Ghouls root A

Song:Kisetsu wa Tsugitsugi Shindeiku” by Amazarashi

Season: Winter

Thoughts: I like the opening too, but not as much as the ending here. This song is somehow very calming, despite having a fairly upbeat tune. At the same time it is something that you can tap you foot to. I also have to add that the art changes for every ending, which is beautiful and lovely.

2 | Shimoneta

Song: “Inner Urge” by Sumire Uesaka

Season: Summer

Thoughts:  This might come as a surprise but I really love this ending! It is funky and weird, but strangely, very catchy. I catch myself humming this song quite often. Yes, it is quite a perverted song, but that certainly doesn’t detract from how badly it gets stuck in your head.

1 | Kekkai Sensen

Song:Sugar Song to Bitter Step” by Unison Square Garden

Season: Spring

Thoughts: You saw this coming from a mile away am I right? This is easily my favorite opening of all time. It is fun, jazzy, and makes you want to get up and dance. This is one of the only openings that I listened all the way through every time. It is a very nice and unique way to end the nice and unique episodes of this nice and unique series.

I hope you enjoyed reading my blog! Be sure to check out the final results (points all added up) to see how each anime did 🙂

  1. Definitely with you on Kekkai Sensen. 2015 was definitely not a shabby year for anime OPs and EDs so there were a ton of really memorable music, but Kekkai Sensen still managed to stand out from them all.

  2. I love the transitional part in Kekkai’s ending theme. I never skipped it once.
Other highlights of this year for me include Oregairu Zoku and Gundam IBO (Orphaaans! namidaa…)
